Ski and Snowboard Instructor

Job Summary

The Instructor serves as a professional Snowsports guide and representative of Sunrise Park Resort. They work as a member of an interdependent team, both within the Ski School department and the resort, dedicated to creating the best possible environment for taking and teaching a ski or snowboard lesson. This job encompasses working not only with students, but with all guests and other employees, fulfilling the guest service orientation of Sunrise Park Resort, both on and off the job.

Full Description

Essential Duties
· Assures customer satisfaction with safe, friendly and efficient service.
· Provides exceptional guest service in a group ski lesson through personable use of modem teaching techniques.
· Instructs and educates guest in skiing and/or snowboarding, using modem teaching techniques.
· Maintains an environment of safety, fun and learning.
· Clarify customer’s expectations and goals at the beginning of each lesson.
· Provides individual or group instruction on skiing.
· Analyzes problems and resolves them in a positive and safe manner.
· Selects appropriate terrain for skills being developed.
· Use effective pacing that is appropriate for student’s ability level.
· Participates in snowboard or skiing clinics to keep current with the most modem and efficient teaching methods and techniques
· Must maintain a cheerful, professional attitude.
· Communicates daily with fellow staff to maintain awareness of mountain operations and activities.
· Helps with set up/tear down of beginner area as well as light cleaning of Children’s Center.
· Assists in the rental shop by fitting children with ski equipment.

Qualifications

· Must be 16 or older.

· Desire PSIA or AASI certification
· Must be intermediate or above in ski and/or snowboard skill level.
· Skiing and/or snowboarding up to 4.5 hours per day in extreme weather· conditions.
· Able to lift up to 50 lbs.

Sunrise Park Resort is a wholly owned and operated tribal entity of the White Mountain Apache Tribe and is located in Greer, Arizona.  Sunrise is Arizona’s premier mountain resort destination.  Elevation – 9,200 feet above sea level.
